”Hem. Någonstans” is the fourth album of Lau Nau. This time she takes us to the fleeting borderline between contemporary classical and experimental music, true to her idiosyncratic style. The electroacoustic orchestrations pilot the listener through an archipelago of cloud constellations to rest on massive pillows of sound. Pekko Käppi, the emperor of jouhikko, a Finnish traditional string instrument, has left his mark on the album by playing all the string arrangements.

”Hem. Någonstans” is an instrumental album and rare of it’s kind: it’s a soundtrack album to a similarly named documentary film by Lotta Petronella (”HOME. Somewhere”, Fisher King Productions 2015). Think of an boldly poetic documentary film that takes place in the remote archipelago, asking a question: Will the human soul ever find a home? In addition to the tree main characters of the film, Lau Nau’s music arises as the fourth character of the film. It’s born with a soul.

Laura Naukkarinen, aka Lau Nau (born 1980) is one of the more interesting names in the Finnish music scene. She composes, records and produces her music mainly by herself. Her first solo albums were released in the US (Locust music 2005 & 2008) and has been touring around world ever since.

Lau Nau became a composer of film music starting first with accompanying silent films, contemporary dance and theatre. Her original music score for Jan Forsström’s feature film ”Princess of Egypt” was competing for the ”Jussi” movie prize in Finland 2014 and Lau Nau’s previous album ”Valohiukkanen” (Fonal records 2012) was a nominee for the prestigious ”Teosto”-prize in Finland.

At the moment Lau Nau tours and plays concerts in a family friendly tempo, accompanies silent films, composes songs for her next album, prepares compositions for theatre and celebrates this crazy wonderful life every day.
