Äänen ja kuuntelun kerho in Jokistudio, Turku.

Welcome to a workshop that takes place once a month to explore the sound of sound by producing and listening to it together. You can participate with either your own singing voice or your instrument. The group is led by composer Laura Naukkarinen, known under the stage name Lau Nau.

We do listening exercises together, play/sing minimalist compositions and improvisations, listen to and modify the sound of sound, and experiment with different rhythms and tunings.

How does the sound of sound change, what is active listening, how do we give space to the sound, how do sounds affect each other and sound together? The emphasis is on making and listening to sound in a small, minimalist and focused way.

The group is a counterbalance to solitary exertion. Club members can also bring their own ideas for the group to try out. We aim for collective and relaxed work with experimental sound.

No level requirements: singers, instruments and vocalists of all levels can join, no musical knowledge is required. Participation is free.

In addition to your musical instrument or singing voice, bring something that makes a clicking, clanking, rattling or clanking sound (bell, bowl, glass, wooden sticks, metal object, etc.). For electronic instruments, bring your own amplifier/speaker.
